Well, luckily, despite the fact that Star Wars takes place in a fictional galaxy far, far away, it’s filmed here on Planet Earth, meaning you can visit some of the fantastic spots of its fictional world. And when you have a movie that dominates your imagination, you probably wish you could explore its worlds for yourself. This means that the fantastic worlds that Star Wars shows on screen dominate many people’s imaginations. The Andor teams were able to shoot many of the scenes in the series in these preserved and isolated places, which are supposed to take place in remote regions of the Empire.Since the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, Star Wars has never been far from the centre of current pop-culture. In the historic county of Perthshire, numerous glens, from which the park takes its name, add relief to the wild landscapes of the region. This large nature park in south-east Scotland has a wide variety of landscapes, from forests to green hills to shingle-lined rivers. While the building itself was used, as well as the structure’s tunnels, many artificial sets were built from scratch for the shoot. In Scotland Cruachan Dam, Argyll and Buteįor the purposes of the Season 1 storyline, Andor’s teams were based near the Cruachan Dam, near Glasgow, Scotland. There there are also lagoons in this huge limestone quarry, and it gives a grandiose dimension to the scenes that were shot there. This time, the production team went to Derbyshire to find a suitable location for this new intergalactic series. Middle Peak Quarry, DerbyshireĪnother British quarry used in Andor to emulate extraterrestrial landscapes is Middle Peak Quarry. These high rock faces on the water’s edge have been used to bring the series’ great landscapes to life, including those of distant planets. The cliffs of Wort Matravers are home to the Winspit Quarry. Bordered by the English Channel, it has landscapes that are as barren as they are spectacular. ![]() This is a surprising location, set in the south of England, on the Isle of Purbeck. ![]() A 370-acres area that allowed film crews to create alien sets without even leaving Essex County. ![]() The buildings, many of which date back to the last century, provide the perfect atmosphere to replicate the buildings of the Empire. This former refinery, now an industrial centre, was used as a setting to recreate a space base in the Disney+ series. The Harry Potter saga, James Bond: Goldfinger, Captain America: The First Avenger, 47 Ronin and another film in the franchise, Star Wars: Skywalker’s Ascension, have all been filmed here before. Andor is not the first production to set its sights on this location. A place with lush vegetation and a panorama that lends itself perfectly to the filming of movies and series. To the north-east of London, in the county of Buckinghamshire, Black Country Park in Wexham extends over 617 acres, including 163 acres of nature reserve.
